How to Calculate VAT

Value Added Tax (VAT) is a sales tax charged by businesses at the point of sale. VAT rates vary by country and also sometimes by the type of product.

The standard rate of VAT in the UK is currently 20%. The reduced rate of VAT is 5%, this applies to some products including energy and some healthy or green products.

To calculate VAT, simply divide the product price by 100 and multiply by 100 + the VAT rate that applies.
